Safely To Shore

Acts 27:20 When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved. 21 After the men had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: "Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. 22 But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.

Life, what can I say? Full of storms and pits and troubles. It is unavoidable and in the center of, or at the end of each storm there is a respite. As we fight the winds in our battles and turmoil, when nothing is left, nothing in resources, strength, or hope, the Lord always sends someone to encourage us and says, "there is an eye in the storm", "keep courage", "you will not be destroyed".

In this scripture, those on this ship were told by Paul they would not survive if they didn't stay with the boat, after they pretended to lower an anchor but instead a life boat to try and escape. They then trusted Paul and cut away the ropes to the lifeboat.

Oh the significance of putting trust in 'lifeboats' things in our lives that cannot save us, and sticking with it fighting through the storm and trusting God's Word and His promises. We know the end of this 'real life' story, they came safely to shore on the island of Malta, some on planks, some swam.

So whatever it takes, hold on, you will arrive safely, every time, it's a promise in more ways than our finite minds can comprehend.
