August 29, 2008 Working On Me

Working On Me

I've come to a place where I realize it is okay to question my faith. If for no other reason to come back stronger. Because there is only One Who is always stable and never changes, He is always there.

I once heard someone say 'I never questioned God' well if that is true it must be rare. It has become evident to me that it is a good place to question my purpose, to not have an answer for myself, my family or anyone else. It's a good place to be because it's time to find a deeper relationship through my walk in life, and allow all the questions I need to ask. God is big enough to understand me, to hear everything I need to say and question, the good, the bad and the ugly as well. After all He created me and knows me.

So with the weekend here it is a good time to take a break to find me. Be back on Tuesday. Please have a safe holiday weekend.

No pictures, no songs just my heart.

August 28, 2008 Open My Eyes

I guess I'm not surprised when I wake up there is always praise on my mind.I really believe as I sleep that my spirit is in continual communion with the Lord. This morning is the song 'Open The Eyes of My Heart'. Interesting that I can't remember if we sang it on Sunday (you know, the last song you hear, seems to stay with you). Either way, it's on my heart and I'm not surprised because this really has been my continuous prayer.

Who I am to think I have any answer for anyone other than by my example. St. Frances of Assisi said 'Preach the gospel at all times and whenever possible use words'. Okay so I talk a lot anyway, and even more freely expressing myself through writing. I use to say there's a short circuit from my brain to my mouth in communicating fully and from my brain to my fingers it is fully operating.

My greatest prayer now is, Lord open the eyes of my heart, to see others, really see them, to see Truth everywhere. To see You, Your Word and Your people. We are his children, we are precious in His sight, fearfully and wonderfully made.

And I am so proud of Ginny and Kade and their precious baby girl, a new precious, awesome life and her name is Jayden.

This is called 'Precious' and it sure is! http://static.flickr.com/35/114481418_8ebb3d4e27.jpg

August 27, 2008 On The Rock

On the Rock

Somehow when it all seems as though it's going to fall apart, when you truly can say you are experiencing most of life (or so it seems) and can relate to all that you were afraid of, there really isn't anything to be afraid of. To find your purpose in life, really, and see everything come to a halt, literally (or so it seems); does it really ever completely shut down as long as you're breathing? And even when we stop breathing nothing shuts down anyway, ever.

We begin to see that as we are planted on the Rock, that nothing, no one, no circumstance, not even any 'spiritual wickedness' can knock us down. In that there may be comfort knowing that we have a God Who is on our side, even in that we don't get the whole perspective. We get side tracked, emotionally, mentally, spiritually... We forget because it is human nature to forget. It's like our built in protective mechanism is the same mechanism which brings us to our knees, if we don't resist, which is a beautiful thing.

Regardless of life and storms and the gamut of feelings throughout our lives, there is one thing that is stationary, solid, keeping us anchored through it all. Regardless of our trials, we have One Who is there, always, giving us ground to stand on, when everything 'seems' to be falling apart around us, in the spirit we are steadfast and sure, regardless of what we see with our physical eyes and feel with our physical bodies.

Romans 9:30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. 32 Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone." 33 As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

When we look away and put everything in our own ability, we stumble. When we truly see Him and keep our eyes on Him and live by faith, we stand and we walk in His light. He is the Rock.

My desire is to share my Rock, His name is Jesus. Without Him I am absolutely nothing, without Him, my life does come to a halt, that is an abrupt halt.

Without Love I cannot live.

In Front of Love

It's not just that I get on my knees. It is that the One before me is too beautiful and awesome to stand. He is pure Love. Adoring Him, all else melts away. In that moment all my worries and anxiety melt away.

It's not just that I get on my knees but that my flesh can't handle His magnificence.

It's not just that I get on my knees. It is my heart crying and it is how I reach the foot of the cross where I can lay my life down at His feet.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

This is confidence that He does...

August 24, 2008 Give It All

Give It All

Mark 10:20 "Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy." 21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

We know what happens next, the rich man went away sad. The Jesus said;

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?" 27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." 28 Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!" 29 "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first." NIV

Who am I that I would ever think that I am first in anything. And when things were going really well financially and I literally heard God in the middle of the night say to me 'The excess is for My kingdom', I thought I understood (notice past tense). Thinking it was about tithing and offerings, and lots more offerings. But it was not about the act of giving. It certainly was, 'the excess is for Your kingdom' because You want it all, not just part of it. And why should I have feared at all that if I gave it 'all' but the basic needs in my life that I would have little, that I would be lacking in anything.

Now in retrospect I see clearly and am open to give everything and all of 'me' to allow Him to guide me and be completely open to do His will. I am His servant. And to be completely honest it is true living, true life. I must always keep my heart and my eyes in the right place and that is on Him.

Who am I that I would ever think that I could get through the eye of a needle, but once I've been reduced (no pun intended) 'all things are possible with God'.

Who am I? I am Yours and I gladly give it all, to be stripped of 'me' to become more like You and willingly take the back seat all the time.

August 23, 2008, Called To Love

Called To Love

The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: Romans 8

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1Corinthians 13

Use me Lord, cleanse me, take me through Your purging fire until nothing remains in me but Your love.

When it comes to receiving love and hearing the call to give love there is nothing else, everything wraps around this. Love is the beginning and the end, love does conquer all, love heals, love raises the dead. God is love.

Called to Love.

1 Peter 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

Use me Lord I am Yours, all of me.

August 22, 2008, Seeing and Waiting, Waiting and Seeing

Seeing and Waiting, Waiting and Seeing

Sometimes there is no plan. Just waiting for and waiting on the Lord.

For anyone who is a go-getter, a goal setter, a don't let the grass grow under your feet person this is probably the most difficult thing to do. Okay, it's me, but I'm learning and have learned to slow down quite a lot these days. I'm learning to not look at the past or the future and live there. I walked through life either with regrets and unforgiveness of the past or putting hope into something planned for the future as if there was hope in the process of planning something that couldn't be seen. But you see this isn't the faith that cannot be seen. What I'm speaking of is planning, plans for a better life, which has nothing to do with faith.

I want to separate the two ideas that have been drilled in our minds that by faith you can have anything you want, anything you desire...big house...fancy car...elaborate vacation...Lier jet with personal pilot.

Just the idea that we take God's Word and use it for gain and I admit I fell into the foolishness. To talk about the windows of Heaven pouring out blessings and standing in His presence with such ridiculousness 'wanting' things beyond my needs, maybe even thinking about Solomon that if he can have it, so can I. I heard it over and over and that still, soft spoken voice in my heart kept saying 'I promised that your needs would be met'. But I wasn't listening. And I surely didn't listen if it was preached with a vengeance and yelled at the congregation because what I was seeing, regardless of the delivery, which shuts me off anyway, is my own misinterpretation of God's Word.

As I have been reading the Bible a transforming peace that passes all understanding has really been transcended in my heart. To be able to put all this craziness and misinterpretation and let the Holy Spirit once again teach me and not put so much weight in the teaching of man but carefully weighing it all in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I am human too. Even in this I 'miss the mark'.

My desire is that God use me 'now', I leave myself wide open, my eyes wide open and my ears wide open to see and hear Him and others. Because when I listen to others and see others, I see Him. It's a beautiful place to be always looking for Him in others instead of external interpretation and misinterpretation.

Regardless of no plan, I am waiting for and on Him with a 'now' plan in my day which is waiting on others and serving and desiring to touch hearts. I am alive and living 'now' more than ever.

August 21, 2008 My Prayer

My Prayer

Mark 12:29 "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." 32 "Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

When we can hear this with our heart, soul and mind together, our eyes open wide and understanding becomes knowing. I realized many obstacles in my life came from just understanding, but it was the beginning. So I want to differentiate between understanding and knowing which is an infinite process.

Knowing: conscious; intentional; deliberate.
Understanding: to perceive the meaning of; grasp the idea of; comprehend; to grasp the significance, implications, or importance of. Also to construe, perceive and accept.

This becomes my prayer; To be honest, this is sharing my life and in my morning time with You Lord, I must keep the right perspective that it is always about You. Throughout my day I want to to know You not just understand You, perceive You or accept You.

I thank You that even the fear of my eyes being wide open to know You more and see with Your eyes, I thank You that somehow You will be able to use me.

There is none but You. I thank You that as I walk through the process of forgiving others, I do love them. In the process of forgiving myself I do love myself, and as You answered that teacher of the law, I can hear You, and I want to seek the kingdom of God over a wise answer. I want to know You and not just understand You, I want to love You with all my heart, with all my soul and all my mind.

Then my light can truly shine for all the world to see.

Broken

All of life is with suffering and death. These days are filled with a feeling of trembling in my spirit resisting depths of feeling what the Lord must have felt as He grew into a man, described in Isaiah as a man of sorrows. Can we see the infinite depth of His suffering in order that we may have life? Did we forget that in our suffering that we have One who experienced everything we experience in order that we may find hope in Him. There is no greater suffering, no greater compassion, no greater love expressed anywhere in the world.

And the sorrow that He must feel when He sees how we hurt and destroy each other. What is the gain in it all? Then we come to standing in the midst of the storm, to find our way to be steadfast on the Rock, being strong in weakness, having vision in the midst of turmoil. It is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel that is Christ, Who waits with such compassion that His heart breaks when ours breaks. A gentleness which He longs for us to know and experience.

My God, You give us only what we can handle. My God, only You know the depth ofthis understanding. Forgive us for being so short sighted with You and with each other. How it must grieve You.

You do understand.

Isaiah 53:3 He was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand. One look at him and people turned away. We looked down on him, thought he was scum.___The Messageor
NIV ___He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

His suffering and love, even in the movie 'The Passion' did not captured the depth of Who He Is or what He did for us.

For centuries even the greatest master artists could not even depict this depth, even within magnificent works of art.

August 19, 2008 In The Middle

In The Middle

Our lives come down to the very first and the very last, and in the middle it is all about You Lord, nothing else. It has to happen, over and over again in our lives. We come to a place where we question our existence, 'our' very purpose and ask 'why are we here anyway?' It is a place that is too difficult in the midst of the question. Because in the midst of it we are feeling alone, rejected, powerless (which is not a bad place, actually good), defeated, a nothing. It may happen often or it may not happen for many years. When it does though, it can be a place of danger setting the stage for a trap that is hard to get out of if we fall in. A living hell on earth. It will happen, you can guarantee it, when 'it' does, allow 'it' only to see 'it' for what 'it' is and not let 'it' take hold (That's a lot of 'its, I'm not teaching English). To take the time to see why and where it is coming from (well we know the less than peon from whom that is). Then the real test comes, to fight through the storm, through the dust and whirlwind, through the torture, through the hate, through the bitterness, through the anger, through the wanting to give up. It's a dangerous place to stay in the midst of these, it's amazing what the less than peon can do! I don't even want to give him attention, he is a less than peon. I know that regardless Lord, You have proved Yourself to me over and over and overagain. You are a loving God, You don't play games with us, we are not Your puppets ona string, we are Yours, and You love us with an everlasting love. Your Word has a depththat is unreachable and unsearchable, but when we do search You give us what we can handle. Our finite minds are corrupt and our actions forever grieve You. When we cry out to You from our changed hearts, You hear us and answer us. We know it is allhuman pride and when we can step on pride and kick it away, we can cry out with a pure heart. Forgive us Lord, we have fallen short of Your plan in our lives.

Job 3:1 After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.

When it happens, just don't stay there, and Job didn't.

The first
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
The middle
Psalm 103:1 Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--
The last
Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

You do save us, even when we take our eyes off You and fall in.

http://static.flickr.com/1151/1295569165_386baf134b.jpg

I should have saved this for today...the images are appropriate for today... the 'middle' is beautiful...because it is where we finally cry out to God with a pure heart.. when there is nothing left..a beautiful and perfect place to be.

You Are

Yes I am, Yes I can, because You Are and You do and because of this, I Am.

Not to be confused with 'Ego' but realizing how insignificant I am without You
and what You did for me.

Please us me Lord, I am Yours Always.

Too awesome not to add the whole Psalm.

Psalm 145:1 I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. 5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. 6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. 7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. 8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. 10 All you have made will praise you, O Lord; your saints will extol you. 11 They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, 12 so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. 14 The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. 16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. 17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. 18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. 20 The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

August 16, 2008 Honoring You

Honoring You

To Honor; my focus is not on honor being defined as achieved distinctions; there is one part to 'honor' that needs attention. It is 'to accept and acknowledge personal responsibility for one's actions', (or the damage of our actions).

In truth, which sets us free, we are able to admit and see how human we are. We are separated from God because of our humanness. That is, in our shortcomings or falling short, and we don't need to beat ourselves up over them. Just acknowledge them and make it right when it involves another person by going to them, or make it right when it involves ourselves and God by going to Him. Because either way we create separation. Separation is mended in honor, as we are coming together in the mending we allow truth to flow and set us free.

Until we are able to speak truth there will be separation from 'within' and sometimes physically. We may be set free in some areas and feel free in some areas, but there is a sense of walls or being bound up or in other areas. Truth and love comes from the deepest part of who we are, who we have been created to be, from our Source, who is God.

When it is difficult to express truth in order to give honor, it is out of fear that we don't. When we love, perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). When we love, we give honor; when we give honor we speak truth; when we speak truth in love and allow others to speak what is on their hearts and together we are set free.

My desire is to honor God and honor you and when I honor you I honor God. To let everything which separates us be stripped away. No more secrets, no more hiding from feelings and shortcomings, to allow myself to be fully human as God created me in order that my spirit be set free and not beat myself up because of my flesh, but just acknowledge it for what it is....separation.

And ultimately our freedom comes from 'truth...Truth' in asking for forgiveness because of our shortcomings. That's all it is and all it needs to be defined as. Everything we do which separates us from each other and God is sin, that is our shortcoming or falling short. And when we do, thank You God, You sent Your Son as our Redeemer to set us free.

Timao Greek; a valuing by which the price is fixed; of the price itself.

And it was a great price in order that we would be set free.

John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free"

1/2

We are Your people, made in your image.

It certainly is an exciting thought. And as You show us Your way in
this, no one is excluded. We are all You people.

Psalm 95: ...7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts ...

This is taken out of context but it is so direct. We don't need to walk in the desert for 40 years, approximately 1/2 our lives. But for some reason we do. Screaming, fussing, griping, complaining, obstinate, selfish and the bottom line, all driven by fear. Fear that He won't do what He said He will do, which is leave us and forsake us.

When there is no resistance to His truth, there is rest. God gives us everything we need for life.

The hurt and pain of this life scar and damage us. As damaged, hurt and unprotected children, we carry our fears throughout our lives. The Lord is so softly speaking and non-intrusive, in order to hear His voice and experience His supernatural, unexplainable protection, love and grace, which is always sufficient, we must not resist, we must surrender.

Romans 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. NIV

and the Message...
If death got the upper hand through one man's wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?

All mankind, all generations, all people have access to His 'abundant provision of grace'. To be able to live this 100% seems impossible since our flesh and mind are always in the way. This 'abundant provsion of grace' is a gift, we can take it or leave it. Whatever portion we choose to receive we will, whatever portion we choose to resist we will. I wouldn't be surprised if each totals to 1/2 of our lives. But even the portion we do choose to receive is abundant. We have not yet experienced 100%, but we will.

Lord, why are we so hard headed? Why do we harden our hearts?

Why do we choose to grasp this with one hand instead of both?

All Things

Some days seems long, some days seem short, some days seem to be connected to the clock.
Some days seem to not to move at all or even get started for that matter; know what I mean?
Some days you don't want to even get out of bed and if you do you wish you hadn't.
And then it happens, there are those days you get up with a smile and walk through it with a smile and go to bed with a smile.

1 Corinthianhs 13:7 (Love) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Romans 8: 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who

August 13, 2008 Proclamation

Proclamation

I am not ashamed of my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ or my closeness which I seek to be with Him, my continuous learning experience with Him as my teacher and His Word as my guide.

I make no claims that I know everything about Him or that I know everything or understand everything about His Word.

I am continually learning to drop my past at His feet and leaving the future in His hands.

I realize that all of the above is a difficult lesson and I must never think I have it all together or know it all.

I know that all of the above is a wonderful walk. It is full of hope and a glorious future. It is constantly being filled with love and wonder. The road of my life becomes straight as it unfolds in front of me, not a minute before my next step when I put my next foot down.

Somehow we know. Have you heard, 'I know, that I know, that I know'? Well, that's it. It is true.
Somehow all of the universe, all knowledge, all voices, all creation, all time come together. We have a flighty glimpse of understanding of the infinite magnitude of His Word and all the power it contains.

When God gave Solomon wisdom, his heart obviously was innocent and ready to receive it. Later you see he used this sacred wisdom and perverted it for his own purpose. This knowledge and wisdom given to him became a dangerous thing as his focus diverted away from the Source of his wisdom and wealth.

Psalm 18:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Proverbs 4:26 Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

1 Kings 4:29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Lord may we look to You and not to what we have or where we 'think' we are going in this life. May we fully learn to live 'one day' at a time....and 'we will know, that we know, that we know'.

Wow!! Beautiful!!

August 12, 2008 What's Important

What's Important

Luke 10:42 'but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.'

So when the day is stacked up it is important not to lose sight of what we are really doing in this life. What is our purpose and what is most important. It isn't in the 'doing' although even in the exhaustion of these last few days I am really enjoying them, it is in the service. But I must be real careful that even though my body can't slow down through the commitments, that my heart and my connection with others isn't lost in the 'busyness', which in the past may have been foggy and overlapping a little, if not a lot.

Bless Martha's heart, we all need someone to serve, otherwise who would eat? Right? It wasn't in her 'doing' or serving Jesus. The contrast of Mary sitting at Jesus' feet in comparison to Martha, who was probably in the 'kitchen' or outside as it was in those days is the life story, was most likely distracted in her heart and caught up in just the 'doing'.

Now at this time in my life as I don't have to get lost in the 'doing' but still be in His presence, and be connected with other's hearts is a real significant change for me. Although those of you who are staying up with me, I thank you. When I drove up at the church a little late yesterday and the parking lot was full of adults already preparing, it blessed me!!!...man, I'm amazed at the beautiful community and fellowship we are having in the midst of having a blast with the children during VBS. Actually, you know it gives us a moment to be like children for a few days. What a blast!

There is nothing else other than a sincere Thank You!!
Let us not lose sight of the 'one thing which is needed'.

An Open Book

Psalm 16:7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

There is no doubt that with the heart we are able to feel and see clearly all that is around us.We are an open book before God. We cannot hide anything from Him. When we reach and feel with the heart we are an open book before others.

Yes, we are an open book.

Psalm 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength; A very present help in trouble;
therefore we should not fear, though the earth should change.

Psalm 48:1 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.

There is no doubt things change all around us, We change. The test is how long will be last in the midst of change or trouble. Will we give up? Will we retaliate? Will we watch? Will we stand? Will we press forward? When we change is it in response to trouble or change regardless of trouble?

What we look at we see.

August 9, 2008 What I See

What I See

The very thing I look at I will see. Didn't I do send this once before? It really is where our focus is. We strive to find truth continually. Since faith isand action word, it never stops, it's infinite. So as I focus on what I see, or door not see or not do, then the very thing I look at I will see. If I stand firm in the midst of everything that comes my way and do not waiver, it is not me who is giving me the strength to do so, it is the Lord. I do have a choice though as to where I look.I'm sure it looks like a whirlwind sometimes, flying around me ready to snatchme up or blow me away. There really is an eye in the midst of storms, and the Lord is there.

I must make a choice every moment. And I fail always. One dear friend sent this to me, 'It is a rigorous practice. You will never get it completely right. You must forgive yourself when you don't.'

Wow, and it is, and it's true, and I must.

2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Back on December 31st I began this blog with enthusiasm of a new year. It was dropped in my heart to name it 'His Heart My Heart' my relationship, one on one with my Lord. Nothing has changed and I pray nothing ever will. I am constantly amazed at His voice and direction, I am even more amazed at when I get in the way I can't see 'anything'. The door is open whenever I seek Him; when I turn my focus from Him I can't find my way to the door. And if I'm following His lead, He keeps only the door open that He knows is best for me.

My journey, I love it. My desire is to be connected with His heart, giving me more of what I need to be connected with every precious heart around me. And nothing has changed as I continue, this expression is 'going on without interruption'.

It takes my breath away.

Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8

Life really is the burning of the candle...

Silent Rest

Matthew 11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

We have not been created to be alone. We have been created to be sociable people, to communicate and relate to one another in service to God and each other. Somewhere along the long way (Adam and Eve only represent the first) we never got it right. Our struggles are in the communion with the Lord and with each other.

When a baby is born he or she cannot speak, he or she 'is' a beautiful new creation; awesome and miraculous, a joyful new life. What a beautiful gift from God.

This is our answer. What does this precious baby need to do to be loved? What does this precious baby need to do to get attention? Within this new life straight from the presence of God, here is perfect communication. There are no words.

This communication continues within us. A powerful expression of loving, of need and desires. We know it within ourselves, the greater expression is of the heart and the heart speaks silently, through actions, through touching other hearts.

Everything is communicated within this statement in Matthew. God's love, His desire, communication from the Father to the Son; communication from the Son to the Father; communication from the Son to us. We will find rest in this 'communi(on)cation'.

Beautiful Rest

August 7, 2008 Slow Down

Slow Down

James 4:1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. 4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.11 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor? 13 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." 16 As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

So, we focus on money and buying and work and business dealings, for what? Isn't it enough to focus on the One who knows everything we need for life? Isn't it enough to walk day after day serving and loving each other full time? What a wonderful calling? No matter where you are, to see your work as a calling to love and serve. This includes within work, business and more important, family.

There are no exceptions to the order of our life's call. God first, family second and ministry third. If this is scrambled in another order (Oh well if you come here you'll see the rest) when you ask, you cannot expect it to be given to you.

I started not to copy the entire chapter of James and it then came to me our whole focus determines outcome. We are called to seek God first above all things. We cannot 'fall short' here. It is not by works, it is by the heart we serve Him and in following His lead, we serve each other. When we don't do this and know that we should, we do 'fall short' of His complete and perfect will for our lives.

I am learning everyday, as I search and know what I should do and He knows my needs.

And another thing I am learning is to Bless the Lord regardless of what comes at me. And this morning it is my computer, or Explorer and then Firefox or both (that means slow!!). Oh well!Even my computer is showing me how to 'slow' down!

This is Your Day Lord, I give it to you, to be more open and aware of those around me. To really see and feel their heart as they search for Truth to be set free.

Off we go and it's still morning...unbelievable...

August 6, 2008 An Answer

An Answer

Philippians 3:13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained. 17 Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Wow, this hits me squarely this morning. Understanding that I don't have answers and won't until that glorious day. I can understand why so many praise and worship songs are about 'that glorious day'. There is a goal, where there will be a prize, a crown to lay at His feet.

As I live now, my ongoing work is to look for Jesus and love in everyone. It is a gift. I must never forget this glorious gift of great sacrifice. It will bring tears to you and me. What sacrifice beyond comprehension!

I have no answers, other than give this answer, there has never been an expression of love as this, ever, and never will be again.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

One day we will know fully. Until then we press on, our minds being transformed in this life, our bodies being transformed in the next.

There is no fear, only love....

August 5, 2008 Deliverance Within Inevitable Trouble

Deliverance Within Inevitable Trouble

W are always in fellowship with each other, a wonderful communion that cannot be broken. Not even storms can stop the flow of love and prayers with each other.

When our eyes stay on the Lord, right in the middle of the storm, we are safe in the center, in the eye, as He watches us always and knows our heart's cry. As the storm passes over us, He covers us with His Wings. We do find safety in the secret place of the Most High.

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 61:4 I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah

This was sent by Jim Spivey in his blog this morning and it's so timely...or at least for me as a reminder.

An average view of the 'good' Christian life is that it means deliverance from trouble. That is dead wrong. It is actually deliverance within inevitable trouble, which is very different. 'He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, there (and only there) shall no evil befall thee - no plague can come nigh the place where you are at one with God.' If you are a child of God, there certainly will be troubles aplenty to meet and deal with, but Jesus says do not be surprised or overly concerned when they come. God does not give us the 'overcoming of life'; He gives us 'life as we overcome.' The terrible strain is the source of the strength. If there is no strain, there is no strength. Are you asking God to give you life, liberty, and joy? He cannot, unless you will accept the full strain. Immediately when you face the strain without 'getting stuck in' complaint, you will get the strength, and it will be infused with humility. Overcome your own timidity and take the bold next step, and God will give you to eat of the tree of life, and you will get nourishment. If you spend yourself out physically, you become exhausted; but spend yourself spiritually, and you get more strength. And God never gives strength for tomorrow, or for the next hour, but only for the strain of the moment. The temptation is to face difficulties from a 'common-sense' standpoint. The good saint is hilarious when he is crushed with difficulties because the thing is so ludicrously impossible for anyone but God." -- Oswald Chambers, in My Utmost for His Highest"

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." -- John 16:33

"Life is not the wick or the candle; it is the burning."

The world is burning - it seems insanely so. We will all get burned - it is unavoidable and there is no escape. The most important question becomes: Will you see the burning as a terrible inconvenience and a problem to be solved - with ample reason to hate or hide or hold it as someone else's fault - or will you see it as a chance to learn and grow and love more. We are actually formed and shaped in this fire. What form will you take after being crushed, a better, stronger, tougher version of the you that existed before it happened, through your own vengeful recovery efforts, or a more pliant and useful vessel in God's hands, through His compassionate, loving, reforming efforts? ____ Jim Spivey

Light in Darkness

Transparent; having the property of transmitting rays of light through its substance so that bodies situated beyond or behind can be distinctly seen.

2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

We can be lights in darkness; lights of hope to those who have lost hope; lights to those who are blinded by gods of this age. It is not our place to knock them off their horse, only to carry the light.

We have the opportunity to be transparent, letting His light shine 'through' us so that others 'beyond' may be 'distinctly' seen in His Light.

His light is our treasure.

August 3, 2008 Perspective

Perspective

If I choose to allow my heart to be changed to see and love with the Lord's love that He has shown me I am operating and filtering all external situations through His love; if I am operating and filtering all external situations or circumstances through conscious or unconscious negative experiences then I am operating in fear and not in love.

Each of us are responsible for each other in that we are our brother's keeper, but that has nothing to do with controlling them or demanding change of them. We watch after each other to see that needs are met and consciously make sure our responsibility and nature to give is of a pure heart. We weigh and judge ourselves before God. If others are unable to do so (yet), we love them anyway and let God hold them in His perfect loving way, which we will never be able to duplicate.

How can we neglect, abuse, criticize, hate, abandon, ignore, back bite, ourselves? Some do, now you may be able to see them more lovingly when they do. They do because they are crying for pure unconditional love.

Paul says it beautifully after looking at his self righteousness; Philippians 3:12 I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. 13 Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward - to Jesus. 14 I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. 15 So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision - you'll see it yet! 16 Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it. __The Message

Then more revelation comes to show me the correct perspective as I see this article.

'To help me keep my eyes and my heart totally on You Lord, and off others and circumstances.

'You are unique! God has not called anyone else to do exactly what you do. Find out who you are and forget about what anybody else thinks. God is not comparing you to another person. You do not have to compete with anyone or be compared to anyone. Just do what He has asked you to do.That is running in your lane. Do not run in somebody else’s lane. Now you can certainly learn from others, but you don’t want to copy them. You were born an original; you don’t want to die a copy. Determine God’s unique design for your life and run in the lane of that design. That is when you will know satisfaction, blessing, and contentment.' Crosswalk, Bayless Conley

And before signing off, to my awesome son Jesse, our blessing from God!!

August 2, 2008 Come

Come

'Come in your dishabille. I mean, come to your heavenly Father in all your sin and sinfulness. Come to Jesus just as you are, leprous, filthy, naked, neither fit to live nor fit to die. Come, you that are the very sweepings of creation; come, though you hardly dare to hope for anything but death. Come though despair is brooding over you, pressing upon your bosom like a horrible nightmare. Come and ask the Lord to justify another ungodly one. Why should he not? Come along with you; for the great mercy of God is meant for such as you are. I put it in the language of the text and I cannot put it more strongly; the Lord God himself takes to himself the gracious title, "Him that justifieth the ungodly.' He makes just and causes to be treated as just, those who by nature are ungodly. Is not that a wonderful word for you? Reader, do not rise from your seat till you have well considered this matter.' ____ All of Grace, C. H. Spurgeon

Romans 4: 4 Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. 5 However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 "Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him." NIV

As long as I remember who I am in perspective to who He is, I am able to see. Once 'me' begins to rise up and I forget where I came from, I am blinded. If I remember that He is high and lifted up and that my lifetime is like a ladder, one step at a time until I am completely with Him; I started at the bottom, I have the perspective I need to keep. As long as I remember I can fall off the ladder and be on the bottom again; as long as I am keeping my eyes on Who is at the top of the ladder, but never thinking that I am higher up, that the bottom is always there, as the top, my perspective is somewhere in the middle and I can see both; on the Lord above and where I came from.

He justifies us. It is by grace that we are saved; not by works.

If I hang on for my 'life', in the middle of the ladder, I am in the right place and will not boast from the perspective of my previous step.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

August 1, 2008 Oil of Gladness

Oil of Gladness

I woke up thinking about 'oil of gladness'.

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is the answer for our captivity, our deprivation, our mourning, grieving and despair. As when the oil ran down Aaron's beard (Leviticus 8) and his face shined from the oil, I'm sure he was smiling with gladness. Gladness from the Lord as He brought and does bring us oil of gladness to wipe away every pain-filled tear (even in this life). He gives us a beautiful covering over our head as His bride, so beautiful that David wrote a song about it; our communion with each other. When we live in unity, it is like this oil....gladness.

Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

We are like oak trees in the forest, basking and dripping in His splendor.
