Special Delivery

Isaiah 40:1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins. 3 A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. 5 And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

What heart stirring words to hear from God. What I see is a beautiful hope like the wonderful stories a little girl dreams of when her knight in shining armor comes riding on a horse to rescue her, and sweeps her off her feet and they ride off in the distance to live happily ever after.

After all the suffering, Jerusalem, (God's people first, remembering we are now joint heirs by adoption) after we have all suffered because we could not find The Way and fell short of His glory. It is in the desert where we will see Him and find Him. He will come in His glory and everything in His path will submit to His return, even the very earth and all that is in it. I never really thought about the extent of this, all that He created that has breath; even what doesn't have breath, the mountains, the hills, the valleys...the rocks.

All eyes will be on the glory of the Lord. What a glorious waiting! Once again He will come in the least likely place, as He was born in the least likely place for a King. The desert and wilderness will be His entry place. Not in a palace but in the desert (and to think, nothing has changed, He meets us in the desert places of our lives, the times we draw close to Him).

Who will be ready? Who will prepare The Way? Who will be waiting for Him?

These words come special delivery to you. The 'her', 'the little girl' is His church, 'she' has the heart of a child and is waiting. This is a real life story.

Your Prince of Peace is returning to rescue you!, He will sweep you of your feet and you will live with Him happily ever after.
