Free To Be
John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (truly). 37 "I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.
The Son. Truly free!! He is our freedom from bondage. When we draw near to Him, Who is Truth, we find His Truth.
Wow, thinking about our liberty here in the United States of America, we can say the same thing as a reason for killing the Word. We have everything we need, right? We are decedents of Abraham living in a land of plenty. Everything available to us, everything. We have fallen away from 'Truth' in order to do it on our own. Losing sight, and in bondage to 'things', the other gods.
We are being called, with a great call, to pray at 8pm Central Time, for our country, our officials and the upcoming elections, for God's will for us, 'He will fight for us'. It is time as with Nehemiah to rebuild the walls that have been destroyed, building with one hand and a sword in the other. And this time the sword is His Word
The colors red, white, and blue did not have meanings for the Stars and Stripes when it was adopted in 1777. However, the colors in the Great Seal did have specific meanings. Charles Thompson, Secretary of the Continental Congress, reporting to Congress on the Seal, stated:
'The colors of the pales (the vertical stripes) are those used in the flag of the United States of America; white signifies purity and innocence, red, hardiness and valor, and blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice.'"
Each of the fifty white stars indicates a state in the present United States. The thirteen horizontal red and white stripes symbolize the thirteen colonies represented in the Continental Congress in 1777. A book about the flag published in 1977 by the House of Representatives states:
"The star is a symbol of the heavens and the divine goal to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun."
Nehemiah 4:16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me. 19 Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. 20 Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!"
Our walls are damaged, we need to spread out across the walls to rebuild. Our weapons are spiritual and there is only One Son, He will set us free, He will bind us together. Our sword and weapons are prayer and the Living Word of God. Put on our armor Ephesians 6, and take up our sword, :17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Freedom to be free, I'm feeling very patriotic today. We live in a great country. If we can slow down enough to see where we are and what we are doing to ourselves in our separation and 'pursuit of happiness' when this has become the 'pursuit of other gods or things'.
Abide with the Son, and be set free.
